Our Story
After 45 combined years in technical careers at a leading Fortune 100 company, we decided to take what we knew—engineering, manufacturing, and problem-solving—and apply it to something we cared about personally: better lighting for crafting, woodworking, fiber arts, and hands-on workspaces.
As lifelong makers ourselves, we saw a clear gap. Too many products on the market were low-quality imports that didn’t truly serve the people using them. We knew we could do better—by designing products here in the USA, using high-quality components, and focusing on real-world performance.
SewLite™ launched in 2013 almost by accident. What started as a small opportunity to help an employee’s daughter explore entrepreneurship turned into a breakout moment at our very first quilt show—where we sold out in just two hours, with customers lined up out the door. That’s when we knew we were onto something meaningful.
From day one, we committed to doing things differently. Every product is designed with purpose, built with premium materials, and made to deliver lighting that closely resembles natural daylight—something that becomes even more important as our eyes change over time. Better light doesn’t just improve visibility—it enhances color, detail, and overall enjoyment in everything you create.
Today, SewLite™ and Lumitask™ have grown into a full range of USA-made lighting solutions used everywhere from sewing rooms and workshops to factories, farms, and job sites. Along the way, we’ve been honored by the support of our customers and community, including a 2020 Product of the Year award.
We continue to push forward with new innovations designed to make lighting more flexible, more precise, and more useful—without adding clutter to your workspace.
At the end of the day, our mission is simple: create high-quality, American-made lighting that helps you see better, work better, and enjoy what you do even more.
