After 45 combined years of my husband and I both enjoying rewarding technical careers at the same Fortune 100 company that's behind practically every modern computer appliance in our lives, it was time to spread our wings and apply our unique science-driven pioneering entrepreneurial skills to our favorite hobby and enjoyment as the Quilting, Crafting, Sewing and Manufacturing categories. As a new division of an already successful product development company started in 1998, SewLite™ MachineLITE™ launched by chance in 2013 helping an employee's daughter try her entrepreneurial hand at a local Quilt Show discovered by a postcard. By the end of the second hour, everything sold out with two days to go and a line of anxious customers extending out to the parking lot! SewLite was born! And it wasn't going to be another "me too" import product already being dumped onto American users by factories overseas far removed from experiencing and witnessing our customers' true needs.
My husband, a trained engineer-inventor who also happens to have a severe eye impairment, insisted that all Sewlite products be made in the USA using only the highest-quality components. This was essential to create lighting that closely resembles natural sunlight for human eyes. As we age, it's a well-known fact that our sensitivity to color decreases. By restoring true color, we can effectively reverse the effects of aging and enhance the clarity and detail that we all appreciate.
We often liken poor lighting to watching the Super Bowl on the latest big-screen television but without surround sound—it just doesn't deliver the full experience.
Today, SewLite has rapidly expanded into multiple product lines and has helped develop Lumitask, our all-inclusive shop for USA-made task lighting solutions across many categories. These products are utilized in various settings, including factories, farms, manufacturing lines, shops, job sites, labs, utility trucks, and, most extensively, in the sewing, quilting, and fiber arts industries.
We have truly enjoyed all the wonderful people we have met on our journey with SewLite/Lumitask since our debut in 2013. It is truly creditworthy to thank all our wonderful customers, employees, vendors, and manufacturing partners and their support with new ideas and for sharing their needs with us including an industry 2020 Product-of-the-Year Award (Src: VDTA/SDTA). Year after year, we keep pushing the limits. Our latest and most ambitious product just launched as Reach™ Zero Gravity Lighting is our best yet adjustable relocatable lighting that virtually "goes" anywhere or on your person and "reaches" any task without further clutter in your workspace.
